The difference Website Homepage can be described as follows: “A homepage is the start page of a website, which often serves as the entry point for navigation on a website. A website, on the other hand, is a collection of web pages that are grouped together under a common domain and URL and made accessible via the Internet.”
This also explains the difference between “Website Homepage” and “Website”.
So if you say: “I really need a new homepage”, then all you really want to do is redo your homepage. A website, on the other hand, can contain hundreds or thousands of pages (hence the need for a good CMS).
Difference Website Homepage, Splashpage
While I’m at it. You may also have heard the term “splash page”. These pages were particularly widespread in the early days of the web. There is usually a cool animation, music or something else upbeat on this splash page. It was really more a means to show how cool the company is, but couldn’t offer any added value to the visitor as there was no content.
Today, splash pages are rather frowned upon and annoying. From time to time you can still find them at large international companies to guide visitors to the various countries/divisions.
Here again in a nutshell:
Homepage = The first page
Website = All pages, pictures and videos that you have made.
Now that you know the difference between a website and a homepage, do you need a new homepage or a complete website? We would be very pleased if we could support you.
