To the right content – Part 1 – Overview

A beautiful website without content is dead. Templates and inspiration for websites are a dime a dozen. A web designer can design a beautiful template: perfectly matching titles, beautiful matching photos and the appropriate text for everything. At first glance, these templates already look finished. However, a closer look reveals the following text: \”Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consetetur sadipscing elitr, sed diam nonumy eirmod tempor invidunt ut labore et dolore magna aliquyam erat, sed diam voluptua. At vero eos et accusam et justo duo dolores et ea rebum.\”

This Lorem Ipsum and, in many cases, the images have to be replaced with your own text and images and suddenly the glossy template no longer looks so shiny and professional, but bumbling and cheap. Blurred, out-of-focus images in the wrong format, only one sentence instead of a nice paragraph of text and gaps everywhere. The initial euphoria fades very quickly.

Do you want to redesign your website or don’t have one yet and want to design one? Content is the key to success. Before you start thinking about design, cool features and social media, think about what content you want to have on the site:

  1. Start Word (or another word processing program)
  2. Set title
  3. Write content without designing anything (just bulleted lists, bold and italics)
  4. Important: Write subtitles where appropriate
  5. Insert photos that belong on the page at the end of the document
  6. Save with a meaningful name

You can quickly see whether this page contains just one sentence or entire volumes. This lays the foundation stone. Repeat this for the next page you are planning.
